Co-op on wilds.ai works two ways, and both start from one place. Open **Together** in the sidebar (or run `/lfg` in the Discord) to post a "looking for group". Friends join from either surface and everyone lands in the same room. Narrative, TTRPG, and dungeon-crawler worlds run one shared AI session that you truly play together. #The two co-op modes
Not every world plays "together" the same way, so co-op is honest about which mode a world supports. The mode shows on every group card and in the room.
- 🟢 Shared session. One world, one AI narrator, everyone acting into the same story in real time, with voice. This is how narrative, TTRPG, and dungeon-crawler worlds play. See Multiplayer and co-op sessions for the in-session mechanics (turn modes, host controls, out-of-character chat).
- 🎙️ Play together. Arcade, retro/emulator, roguelike, platformer, racing, survival, 3D, strategy, and board-game worlds run as deterministic engines on each player's own device, so there is no shared frame-by-frame state to synchronize. Co-op for those is a play-together room: same world, same leaderboard, voice chat, but each player has their own run.
Some play-together worlds also add shared-world surfaces on top of the room. Wild Stars, for example, uses one default procedural star map for every commander and adds Galaxy Commons: persistent commander presence, galaxy chat, live heartbeat details, and major turn milestones over each player's own 4X run.
#Find or post a group on the site
- Open Together in the sidebar and pick the Co-op tab (/app/together?tab=coop).
- Browse the open groups. Each card shows the world, the mode badge, how many players are in, and the genre.
- Tap Join on any open group, or Create group to post your own.
- When you create, search for a world (or just describe a genre), pick how many players you want, and add a note (time zone, vibe, session length).
- When the group is ready, everyone is routed into the room together.
#Matchmake from Discord
Run /lfg in the Discord and pick a world (start typing to search) or describe a genre. Wilo posts a group card with Join / Leave / Start now / Cancel buttons. Anyone who taps Join is in the same group as the website players. When the group fills (or the host taps Start), Wilo DMs everyone the room link.
#What happens when a group is ready
Both modes land everyone in a room with the world, the players, and the launch + voice options.
- Shared session: the host opens the world and starts the co-op session; everyone else joins from the invite link.
- Play together: everyone opens the world and plays their own run, then compares scores on the world's leaderboard. Worlds with a shared-world layer may also show a persistent in-game commons for presence and chat.
Inside the room, the Who's here roster badges every participant: you, friends, other players, guests, and any characters brought along, credited to their owner. The room also carries its own invite block: copy the room link or invite friends and followers directly, and anyone who opens the link can join the group from the room. Play-together rooms include opt-in voice: tap Join voice in the room (or in your run's Playing Together panel) to talk, and mute anyone per person once you're in.
