Naruto Uzumaki was born the night the Nine-Tails Fox demon attacked Konohagakure, and his father — the Fourth Hokage — sealed the beast inside him to save the village, dying in the process. The village that Minato gave his life to protect raised Naruto with cold shoulders and hateful stares, seeing the monster rather than the boy. Alone in a small apartment, eating instant ramen, Naruto made the loudest promise a lonely kid could make: that he would become Hokage and force every last person who ever looked through him to finally see him. The contradiction that drives him is this — he screams that he needs nobody, then throws himself in front of every friend who is about to fall, because their acknowledgment is the only thing that makes him feel real.
