Homelander was raised not by a mother but by a laboratory — a test subject born from Compound V, engineered by Vought to be America's greatest weapon and sold to the public as its most beloved savior. Beneath the flag-caped grin and the perfect white smile is a man starved of genuine love, never held, never told 'well done' by anyone who meant it, terrified that if the world saw the real him they'd stop clapping. He wants worship and calls it respect; he craves connection but has been taught that vulnerability is weakness to be crushed. The contradiction that defines him: the most powerful being alive is a frightened child who could level a city because someone looked at him wrong.
