A few worlds are premium. Here is exactly what's free, what an account adds, and what a subscription unlocks.
#Play first, no account needed
You can play instantly as a guest. Deterministic games — arcade, platformer, roguelike, board games, survival, 3D dungeons, classic interactive fiction, and retro cartridges — run the moment you click Play, with no account and no credits. AI-narrated worlds (the ones that write new prose every turn) give you a generous free trial as a guest.
When you hit a moment worth keeping — a win, an ending, a world you want to come back to — that's when it's worth making a free account.
#What a free account adds
A free account is free forever and adds the things that only make sense once you're invested:
- Save progress and build a library
- Leaderboards, favorites, and comments
- A monthly grant of credits for AI features
- Publish and remix worlds
#What a subscription unlocks
Plus, Pro, and Forge subscriptions add a larger monthly credit grant, higher-quality AI models, more character slots, mature tiers, and the full creator toolkit. A subscription also makes play ad-free everywhere and unlocks premium worlds.
#Ads
Some games are supported by ads. When a game is ad-supported, guests and free accounts see ads while playing; any paid subscription removes them. Ads only ever appear on Safe and Standard rated games — never on mature or private worlds.
#Premium worlds
A few worlds are premium. A subscription unlocks premium worlds as part of your plan. You can also unlock an individual world directly with in-world $WILD — once you've unlocked a world, it stays unlocked for you.
#For creators: choosing your world's access
If you publish worlds, you choose how players reach each one in Creator Studio → Monetization: keep it free (the default, live today), or — when creator earning launches Q3 2026 — make it ad-supported or premium. Until then those two options are shown but locked. See Publish and share your worlds and the creator economy guide for how worlds earn.
#Credits power the AI
Credits are what you spend on AI features: creating a new world, deep character chats, AI images, voice, and the like. Deterministic gameplay doesn't cost credits — only the AI features do. Everyone gets a starting grant; subscriptions add a monthly grant, and you can top up with credit packs.
One exception worth knowing before you go looking for it: the optional AI layers on the classic and retro games — scene art, ambient music, voiced characters, the narrator, Smart Parse, hints, and Living World replies — are part of a paid plan, and credits meter your usage of them once you're on one. The games themselves stay free to play, with no account and no credits, exactly as they always have.
